History

Durbin is a specialist medical supply company that sources and distributes pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and consumable supplies to healthcare professionals in over 160 countries worldwide. We have offices in the UK, Europe and USA.
Established over 50 years ago in Harrow, West London, the company has set up its operation to act a one-stop-shop able to deal with healthcare supply needs from local project level to national scale tenders, supplying over 20,000 branded / generic pharmaceuticals and medical and consumable products.
The company’s main divisions encompass everything from International Sales through Sales to NGO’s and Charities, Clinical Trials Supply, Managed Access Programs, Imported (Unlicensed Medicines), Sexual Health Supplies, and the storage and distribution of medical products and devices for third parties. In 2014, Durbin acquired US based medical supplier Pharmaceutical Trade Services Inc. (PTSI), now called Durbin USA.
Durbin’s 165 strong team possess a wide range of in-house skills and includes pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, medical engineers, commercial executives, administrators, warehouse, logistics staff and a globally based sales force. Customers include major pharmaceutical companies, biotech companies, trusts, hospitals, retail chemists and GPs as well as multilateral organisations, NGOs, charities, government agencies, pharmaceutical wholesalers and traders
In 2017 Durbin began the process of combining its UK warehouses and offices in a move to new, larger premises located close to Heathrow Airport. This will see pallet capacity increase by three times and the company’s new warehouse also boasts a secure loading area, fast-action loading bay doors and a brand new, state-of-the-art temperature control system. Separate rooms include a freezer, a cold room for items requiring storage between 2-8°C, and a ‘controlled warm’ room for items requiring storage between 15-25°C, each with a capacity of 32 pallets.
The company has preferential rates with all the major freight forwarding companies and can ship most items at a moments notice, truly reflecting the company ethos of ‘saving lives by saving time’.
Durbin has won many awards including ‘Export Excellence in the Americas’ category at the UK Export Excellence Awards 2016, and ‘Exporter/International Business of the Year’ at the West London Business Awards 2017. Durbin were also identified as one of London Stock Exchange Group’s 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain in 2017, and recently ranked No. 68 in the 18th Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100 list for 2017. In 2018, Durbin received The Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade.
In August 2019, Uniphar announced the acquisition of Durbin. Being one of the largest pharmaceutical distributors in Ireland, Uniphar have made Durbin an integral part of their Product Access division.
