Leslie Morgan elected Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society

    20 December 2013

We are thrilled to announce that Leslie Morgan OBE has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, an award which is bestowed on members who are considered to have made an outstanding contribution to the pharmaceutical profession.

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society is the dedicated professional body for Pharmacists in England, Scotland and Wales. It has approximately 50,000 Pharmacist members, with less than 550 Fellows.

Fellowships recognise the distinction members have attained in a particular aspect or aspects of their pharmacy career. As Fellowships are based on nominations from members, it also signifies the esteem in which members are held by their peers, and as such is a mark of achievement.

Speaking of the Fellowship, Leslie said "I am truly honoured to be appointed a Fellow of the Society. It is one of the highest honours that can be bestowed on somebody in this profession."

Leslie Morgan was born in 1954, and after graduating from London University with an honours degree in Pharmacy, became a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

Leslie joined the retail pharmacy, B&S Durbin Ltd, in 1976 as a Pharmacist, leading the development of the international division of the company. In 1999, Leslie bought the company and changed the name to Durbin PLC.

Under Leslie’s leadership, Durbin has become one of the world’s leading specialist pharmaceutical and medical equipment distributors. Durbin focuses on specialist areas of pharmaceutical distribution. It has divisions operating in charity and NGO supply, international sales, clinical trial supply, sexual health supplies, managed access programs, the importation of unlicensed goods and global distribution. Durbin employs 100 staff and distributes over 20,000 different products to 190 territories.

In conjunction with other organisations, Durbin has donated at no cost over £22 million of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to charities worldwide. Durbin has been recognised widely for its success including SME of the Year at the Business Excellence Awards and the Coutts Prize for Family Business in London.

Leslie Morgan was awarded an OBE in 2013 in recognition for his services to the pharmaceutical industry and to charity.
